Prince Philip makes first public appearance since being hospitalized

Prince Philip was seen in public for the first time since his hospitalization on Tuesday. He attended a funeral for his cousin Patricia Knatchbull, the 2nd Countess Mountbatten of Burma.

Philip was admitted to the hospital last Tuesday to treat an infection for an undisclosed medical condition. His hospitalization caused him to miss two major events. He was absent from the State Opening of Parliament and missed the first day of the Royal Ascot.

Prince Philip is set to retire from public duty this summer. At 96-years-old, he is the longest serving spouse of a reigning king or queen in British history.
