Privacy regulators in the UK and Europe are keeping a watchful eye on the roll-out of the Worldcoin cryptocurrency scheme co-founded by Open-AI CEO Sam Altman. Worldcoin offers free cryptocurrency tokens to people who are willing to share their biometric data by scanning their eyeballs with a special “orb.” The company says over two million people have already signed up. But Kenya—one of Worldcoin’s biggest markets—this week banned the project over privacy and security concerns. Earlier, I spoke to Bitcoin journalist Susie Violet Ward to learn more.
