House Committee Probes Whether Fauci Dismissed Lab Leak Theory

The House Oversight Committee Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic on Tuesday held a hearing on the investigation of the COVID-19 origins.

Lawmakers questioned the authors of a scientific paper that dismissed the lab leak theory soon after the virus broke out.

Shortly before the hearing, Republicans released a report they say proved that the main objective of the 2020 paper was to dismiss the lab-leak theory.

It includes transcriptions of telecommunications between the scientists which lawmakers received through a subpoena.

The report also showed that days before publishing the paper, the authors still seemed sure the virus couldn’t have originated in nature.

Republicans say that changed after a conference call with former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci.
