Professor X isn’t done. Despite earlier reports that the last Wolverine movie would also be the last appearance of Patrick Stewart as Professor X, turns out that could change. Stewart gave the impression on “James Corden” that if a fitting opportunity comes along, he may take it. Not only in movies, but also in Marvel’s TV shows.

Such news is sunshine in the hearts of X-Men fans everywhere. Patrick Stewart was exquisitely cast as Charles Xavier, founder of the X-Men. He has held the role for seven movies, although in the movie universe he shares the role with a younger incarnation of the professor played by James McAvoy.

As for movies, Stewart mentioned “Deadpool” as a movie franchise he would be keen to make an appearance in. Professor X in “Deadpool 2” might be a little awkward due to the movie’s comedic focus. But he also stated he would be open to bringing back Professor X for “Legion,” the only Marvel live action TV show out now related to the X-Men. “Legion” is the son of Charles Xavier and Gabrielle Haller, so it is a fitting place for Patrick Stewart to make his return. “Legion” is still in its first season, which began airing on Feb. 8.

Patrick Stewart is getting much attention for the recently released “Logan.” He played alongside Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine again, but in a much different kind of movie. Besides the more mature nature of the movie and the added violence, Professor X goes through serious hardship. The movie brings an unseen level of realism to the superhero genre. It no longer fits the age group that X-Men related comic books and comic book movies are generally focused on, but appeals to fans who are a little older and revisiting the characters from their childhood. Comic book movies are becoming an all-ages affair.

When Professor X isn’t mentoring the next class of X-Men, he’s out there enjoying the lighter side of life. Patrick posted a picture to social media of himself with his and his wife Sunny’s new pit bull.

Though Patrick Stewart is just like any regular person, he is still very closely identified with his TV and movie acting franchise work. Before he was Professor Charles Xavier, he was Captain Jean-Luc Picard, a role he held for seven years on the iconic TV series “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” Besides the difference in super powers, the leadership focus and personality of the two characters isn’t that far off. There is no telling when Professor X could pop up in another movie or TV show at this point, but fans will be on the lookout.
