Protests Over Deputy Secretary of Xinjiang’s Planned Visit

Uyghur activists protested against a planned meeting between the UK government and the Chinese Communist Party’s deputy secretary of the Xinjiang region. Erkin Tuniyaz has been sanctioned by the United States for his involvement in the Uyghur genocide. But his visit is seen as an insult by campaigners and some senior politicians, who call for the government to take a tougher stance against him.
