Public Awareness Key in Combating Risks of AI-Powered Robocalls: Expert

Robocalls powered by artificial intelligence (AI) have already reared their heads in American elections, with fake robocalls impersonating President Joe Biden recently in the run-up to New Hampshire’s primary election. NTD spoke with Robert Salvador, an AI expert and the CEO of software company DigiBuild, who expressed his concern about government regulation to solve the problem of such robocalls.

Mr. Salvador says he’s optimistic the free market will present a remedy to robocall risks. Furthermore, he said public awareness is a great line of defense against the deception that stems from this new technology—to “prepare the voters and the citizens in the United States to identify, recognize, and make their own assumptions when it comes to deepfakes and AI.”
