A woman who paid bond for popular music personage R.Kelly, who was arrested on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, will not be getting her money back, at least temporarily, ruled a Cook County judge on Sep. 17.

The woman who posted the bond on February is named Valencia Love. The amount was $100,000, according to a friend of Kelly, reported the Chicago Sun-Times.

She wants the money back now that he has been indicted on federal charges.

According to Complex, Love is the owner of a childcare facility in Chicago named the Lord and Child Christian Day Care, as well as the owner of several restaurants.

The outlet says that she claims to be a friend of Kelly and that she didn’t what to reveal the source of the money for the bond, adding that Kelly would have been freed regardless of her help.

Fox32 reporter Tia Ewing said that she interviewed Love for 14 minutes.  “I’m not going to say it was my money or [Kelly’s] and he’s not broke,” Love told Ewing. Adding that, “He’s my friend and I knew he needed help.”

“He was going to get out regardless,” Love said. “I just went out there to help my friend.”

Love was heavily criticized by Twitter users who said it was ironic that a child daycare facility owner bailed him out.

Love, however, insisted that Kelly is innocent, “Let him have his chance in court to prove if he’s innocent or guilty. As a friend if he says he’s innocent, I can only believe that he is innocent,” she said.

Kelly was federally indicted for 18 counts which included child pornography receipt and production, as well as obstruction of justice by federal prosecutors in New York and Chicago.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that a close friend of R.Kelly said that Love met Kelly on a cruise in 2018.

Don Russell, a friend and advisor of Kelly, said that the singer and Love met on board a Spirit of Chicago cruise on Lake Michigan. Russell said that she called people from Kelly’s inner circle and said that she wanted to help when he saw that he couldn’t pay for the bail.

Some Twitter users questioned this because Kelly has made many hit songs for about two decades.

But Russell said that “she wanted Rob to have a chance at justice, and she thought he’d have a better chance outside of jail than inside.”
