Rapper Lil Wayne Mourns Death of Officer Who Saved His Life

Rapper Lil Wayne on July 25 posted a farewell note to former officer Robert Hoobler who passed away. The rapper credits the former officer with saving his life. Lil Wayne attempted suicide by shooting himself in the chest when he was 12 years old. The off-duty officer responded to the scene and together with another officer, rushed the boy to the hospital. The rapper later said he never knew racism because of the officer who saved his life. A few years before Hoobler passed away, the rapper offered him financial assistance for life if he ever needed it.
