Rapper XXXTentacion has passed away at age 20 after he was shot in Florida on Monday.

Rising star XXXTentacion, whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy, was pronounced dead after he was taken to the hospital, according to a statement from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives say Onfroy was leaving a motorcycle dealer in Deerfield beach before 4 p.m. when he was approached by two armed men.

One of the suspects opened fire striking at Onfroy. Both suspects then fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV, police said.

An eyewitness captured a video, which was circulating on social media, of the young artist looking lifeless in his vehicle after the incident. He was reportedly shot in his car. The video has since been deleted.

Onfroy was then transported to Broward Health North where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say the incident appeared to be an alleged robbery.

Onfroy was facing trial for a domestic violence charge against his pregnant girlfriend, reported Fox News. He is facing a dozen more charges including home invasion for a 2015 incident and witness tampering.

He was recently released from house arrest after a judge allowed him to tour for his new album that was released in March, according to TMZ.

Shortly after the news of his death was made public, many musicians and artists paid tribute to the rapper.
