Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) presented articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Christopher Wray, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves in a floor speech on May 23.

The measure to impeach Biden, which Greene has introduced to Congress on various occasions before, was announced during a May 18 press conference.

“It is with the highest amount of solemnity that I introduce articles of impeachment today on the head of this America Last executive branch that has been working since Jan. 20, 2021 to systematically destroy this country: the president of the United States, Joseph Robinette Biden,” Greene said.

In the articles (pdf), Greene wrote: “In his conduct as President of the United States, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of the President of the United States, and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend, the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, Joseph Robinette Biden abused the power of the Office of the President by endangering the security of the United States and thwarting the will of Congress as set forth in duly enacted law.”

During the press conference, Greene explained, “Joe Biden has deliberately compromised our national security by refusing to enforce immigration laws and secure our border.” She cited figures that more than 6 million illegal aliens have entered the United States under Biden’s watch.

“His administration has willfully refused to maintain operational control as required by the law.”

FBI Director Christopher Wray has come under intense scrutiny. In two articles of impeachment (pdf), announced by Green, Wray is charged with acting “in a manner grossly incompatible with democracy” and with overseeing attempts “to subvert freedom.”

The process of impeachment pertains to charging a federal officeholder with high crimes or misdemeanors with the aim of removing them from office.

In her announcement on May 16, Greene stated that Wray had turned the FBI into Biden and Garland’s personal police force.

“Under Wray’s watch, the FBI has intimidated, harassed, and entrapped American citizens that have been deemed enemies of the Biden regime. As such, Wray has turned the FBI into Joe Biden and Merrick Garland’s personal police force, “according to a press release by the office of Greene.

Greene said the agency has gone out of control and appears to directly serve as Biden’s enforcer against political opponents.

As corroborating examples, Greene pointed at the FBI’s labeling of devout Catholics as “violent extremists,” as well as the raids on the home of a pro-life protester and on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

Leaked Documents

The press release goes on to cite a leaked document obtained by an FBI whistleblower, which openly targets Traditional Latin Mass Catholics.

“The document, titled ‘Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists (RMVE) and their interests in ‘Radical-Traditionalist Catholics’ or RTCs,’” was reported out of the Richmond Field Office and dated Jan. 23, 2023. This leaked document outlined a plan for the FBI to spy on Catholics, particularly Latin Mass-attending Catholics, who, according to the document, have harbored “white supremacy,” the press release continues.

Greene added in the release that Biden was storing classified documents in his garage as well as remote facilities, both during his time as a senator and vice president, despite there being no law that would have allowed him to do so.

Further Articles of Impeachment

On the same day, Greene announced further articles of impeachment against U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Matthew Graves, accusing him of totally subverting the justice system through his prosecution decisions.

“During his time in office, U.S. Attorney Graves has totally subverted the justice system of the United States and facilitated the explosion of violent crime in Washington D.C. by refusing to prosecute violent crimes,” according to the release.

According to an article by the Washington Times, Graves has refused to prosecute two-thirds of arrests in the nation’s capital. Simultaneously, he initiated a barrage of cases against those present at the January 6, 2021, Capitol protests.

“Graves has prosecuted hundreds of individuals who participated in a political protest and has sought lengthy pretrial detention, even for nonviolent defendants. His cruel and unusual tactics have driven innocent people, arrested on phony charges, to suicide, including Matthew Perna,” the press release states.

No comment was made by the FBI. However, according to the Washington Times, a statement was issued by the Justice Department. In the statement, the DOJ reportedly called both men “dedicated public servants who have committed their careers to keeping our country safe.”

“Their work and their service are critical to the safety and security of our country and our nation’s capital,” the department said, as per the Washington Times.

Only a House majority vote is needed for impeachment. However, a two-thirds majority vote is required in the Senate to convict and remove an official.

The resolutions announced by Greene follow the release of a special counsel report implicating the FBI in investigations against Donald Trump since 2016. According to special counsel John Durham, the FBI’s actions showed clear political bias against Trump, the Washington Times reported.

Further impeachment resolutions were filed against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Backers of the resolution have argued that despite deserving impeachment for mismanagement of the border, there aren’t sufficient votes to pass an impeachment resolution through the House. Whether the resolution against Wray will produce better results currently remains to be seen.

Greene’s articles of impeachment against Garland last year reportedly only gained support from five cosponsors and were not acted upon in the then-Democrat-controlled House.

Greene also pointed at the FBI’s clear bias during the pursuit of former Trump while completely shielding the dubious actions of Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, according to the Washington Times.
