Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-Calif.) questioned what he called “Orwellian” practices by university diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) employees, accusing many of curtailing free speech on campuses and using their social media accounts to “promote antisemitism” while speaking at a House Higher Education Subcommittee meeting on Thursday.
Mr. Kiley criticized the DEI arm of academia for, as he put it, “leading a 21st century American resurgence of one of the world’s oldest and most retrograde prejudices,” before asking testifying witnesses for their thoughts.
