Rep. Lawler: Kevin McCarthy ‘Never Should Have Been Removed as Speaker’

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) told reporters in Washington Wednesday that it is important for the House to get back to work by empowering the pro tempore speaker Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) to serve in the House speaker role until one is officially elected. The New York Congressman also expressed his disdain for the ouster of former speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), saying the Representative from California should never have been removed from the position.
