Rep. Mike Garcia (R-Calif.) criticized FBI Director Christopher Wray’s handling of border security during a House Appropriations Committee hearing on Thursday, telling the bureau chief, “I don’t trust you to protect us.”
Mr. Garcia accused Mr. Wray of being “passive” when it comes to border security, and questioned his leadership and ability to help set policy.
Mr. Wray pushed back at the California Republican, claiming he has expressed his concerns over border issues “consistently.” Mr. Garcia responded with a question as to whether the FBI chief had ever spoken directly with President Joe Biden over his administration’s open border policy.
