While Congress is busy with the impeachment hearing, a Republican is running to swipe the congressional district from the Democrat leading the inquiry against the president.

Eric Early from Los Angeles is running for District 28.

Los Angeles leaders endorsed him Thursday morning at Glendale City Hall, and he’s not happy with the impeachment inquiry.

Even though he thinks Trump will never be impeached, he says Schiff is neglecting his constituents by focusing on the president.

“We’ve got drug abuse, we’ve got taxes on the rise, we’ve got crimes on the rise, we’ve got infrastructure problems, affordable housing problems. We need a congressman who actually cares about this district and also cares about our country,” he said.

Early is a lawyer and ran for California Attorney General in 2018.

Former Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich expressed his support for Early, “It’s a real pleasure to be here to support Eric to run for Congress. We have many issues right now before us. We have a trade agreement between Mexico and Canada that Congress is not passing because they are involved in an impeachment inquiry.”

It may prove to be a challenge for Early, considering that Schiff won the 28th District against a Republican with nearly 80 percent of the vote.
