Nominee for House speaker Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) lost the support of 20 of his fellow Republicans and won 200 on Tuesday in the first round of floor votes, falling short of the 217 GOP votes he needed to be confirmed. Reps. Carlos A. Giménez (R-Fla.), Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), and Mark Alford (R- Mo.) spoke to reporters on their views after the vote. The next round will be held on Wednesday.
