Rescued chimp cherishes friendship after spending 18 years alone

Can you imagine living without a companion for 18 years? What will you do when you are invited after 18 years of lonely life to a big home where others live in family groups? They are all so used to friends and family members except you and one other who lived in a biomedical research lab for decades.

Yes, this is a story of friendship. Terry was sent to the Las Vegas Zoo and brought to Save the Chimps, a Florida sanctuary when the zoo was closing in 2013. He met Jeannie in the sanctuary.

Sometimes the best friends are those who know just what you’ve been through. Terry and Jeannie quickly reach out to grab each other’s hands. They cling to each other and play with each other’s fingers for more than one minute in the footage.

Watch the following video and see how these chimps cherish their new friendship!
