A boat full of migrants is on its way to Italy. The migrants departed the Libyan coast, as so many have done this year.

There has been an almost unceasing stream of migrants leaving the Libyan coast, hoping for a safe arrival in Europe.

One man was shot before he could depart. Migrants aboard the rescued boat said he was shot by Arabs because he was black. He was put on a boat and pushed out to sea by his murderers.

Five hundred and sixty migrants were rescued from the unsafe, inflatable boats. They were ecstatic to arrive in Italy, arriving with chants of “Italia! Italia!”

Migrant boat departures from Libya had slowed recently, due to bad weather. But overall, 30 percent more migrants have arrived in Italy from Libya compared to this same period in 2016.
