Retired Judge Quentin L. Kopp Attends Shen Yun for the Fifth Time

Quentin L. Kopp, a retired judge who served as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and in the California State Senate, saw Shen Yun perform for the fifth time in San Francisco on January 6.

The 90-year-old returns annually because Shen Yun puts on an all-new program every year. The dancers’ and singers’ skill level impresses him the most.

“In addition to that with the now patented technology, it achieves almost magical forms of entertainment and surprise,” said Quentin L. Kopp. “Which makes me open my eyes wider then they were. As dancers emerge from a picture of what is obviously attractive parts of China.”

The combination of the digital backdrop and performers aids the storytelling pieces. The retired judge experienced joy and seriousness while watching some programs which portrayed the oppression of Falun Gong practitioners.

“It does convey adequately in my opinion to those of us who know the kind of discrimination, practiced against the practitioners of Falun Gong in mainland China,” Kopp added. “I think those stories are testimonial to the fact that communist China is an authoritative dictatorship. May the United States never become a communist nation. The acting is first class. It is a musical and a classical kind of artistic portrayal. But it is done in the right fashion.”
