Runners not fast enough for sub 2-hour marathon but still get best time yet

He was just 25 seconds too slow.

Eliud Kipchoge ran the fastest marathon ever. But it wasn’t fast enough to break the 2-hour mark.

Kipchoge talked about how even though he didn’t break the 2-hour mark, he is still confident, “But I am a happy man to run a marathon in two hours. So I think the world is now just 25 seconds out. And I can say with the perfect mind and the perfect training, and I believe in good preparation and good planning, if you’ve done that then the 25 seconds will go.”

Nike sponsored the Breaking2 event for that purpose. Despite the great performance, the time would not be recorded, even if the 2-hour mark was surpassed.

Because Nike bent official rules for those that favored the runner.
