Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced on Monday Russia would close all its borders by midnight to foreigners except for those with a permanent residence permit, due to the CCP virus outbreak.

NTD refers to the novel coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19, as the CCP virus because the Chinese Communist Party’s coverup and mismanagement allowed the virus to spread throughout China and create a global pandemic.

The measure, he said, will run until May 1—and is intended to protect the Russian population and slow down the virus from spreading, AFP reported.

So far, 113 confirmed cases of coronavirus contamination, or COVID-19, occurred in the country, said Statista.com.

“Some countries are enjoying more success, others less success,” Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, said in a morning briefing with journalists, the Independent reported. “You could hardly consider the Ukrainian situation to be a model for us to follow.” Peskov was commenting on criticism raised for not taking similarly aggressive methods to contain the virus as its neighbor Ukraine had.

The rule comes in concord with many similar lockdowns occurring all over Europe and the rest of the world.
