In a tiny Russian village, dairy cows that are too old to milk are going to a picturesque retirement home to live out their twilight years.
Nestled between the snowy hills in the Republic of Tatarstan is “Goshala”—one of the oldest and largest cow shelters in the country.
This is a retirement home for local dairy cows who can no longer be milked or whose owners no longer need them.
Around one hundred animals now live here, including some young animals born at the refuge.
