Speaker Paul Ryan told reporters Tuesday, April 4, that the House was working on the next version of health care. He said the bill was in a “conceptual stage” but that there was productive discussion taking place.

Ryan said the focus of the new bill would be “getting everybody lower premiums.”

“It’s all about getting premiums down,” he emphasized. “It’s all about making more affordable premiums.”

Ryan refused to release a timetable. He wanted take the time needed for all the members to discuss all their ideas and to get all the members on the same page before going public.

“We want to make sure when we go, we have the votes to pass this bill,” he said.

Ryan thanked Vice President Mike Pence for his help is reviving the failed bill.

“The vice president has been instrumental in bringing together different groups from our conference to talk about concepts.”

Ryan said that he had had 90 percent support for the first bill.
