Safe@Home | A Conversation on Countering Domestic Violent Extremism

Live Chat

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, Center for a New American Security (CNAS) will host a virtual conversation with Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Homeland Security Advisor on the National Security Council Joshua Geltzer, followed by an expert panel discussion on the recently released CNAS report Protecting the Protectors: Preventing and Mitigating Domestic Violent Extremism in the Military, Veteran, and Law Enforcement Communities.

The event is hosted by Carrie Cordero, Robert M. Gates senior fellow, and Katherine Kuzminski, senior fellow and Director of the Military, Veterans, and Society program.

The report, co-authored by Carrie Cordero, Katherine Kuzminski, Arona Baigal, and Josh Campbell, analyzes the issue of countering domestic violent extremism within the military, veteran, and law enforcement communities at the recruitment and screening phase, current in-service, and at the post-service and outreach phase. The first half of the discussion will focus on the federal government’s domestic terrorism strategy and implementation. In the latter half, panelists will discuss the specific issue of domestic violent extremism within the military, veteran, and law enforcement communities.
