Sandstorms are shrouding Beijing and northern China and air pollution is soaring off the charts.

Thick sandstorms shroud Beijing causing air quality to plummet and the multi-day sandstorm blanketed buildings and roads in a thick cloud of orange dust.

The air quality index reached a level considered hazardous to human health. More than 37 times the daily average guideline set by the World Health Organization.
