Scarlett Johansson gave an exclusive interview to NTD about the hardship of playing characters like the one she portrays in “Ghost in the Shell,” before the opening of that movie.

You know I think the character is just living in a headspace that is really difficult to sustain for the duration of the shoot, which is one of self-questioning, feelings of abandonment and betrayal, and dissociative feelings. I think it’s just living in that emotional state for such a long period of time is hard.”

Johansson described her hopes for simpler roles in the future.

“These next ten years I’d like to focus on playing actual people. That would be good. Yeah, I just want to play a simple person. Yeah, a simple person.”

Fans are used to seeing Johansson play fantasy action roles like her Black Widow character in Marvel movies, and her supernatural Lucy character.

Scarlett also talked about what actor she admires and why.

“Maybe Daniel Day Lewis because I’m interested in his process. I just want to see it one time, I want to experience it and see what it’s all about.”

“Ghost in the Shell” started as a Japanese comic book, before branching out into animated films and television series. An American made, live action movie had been in development since 2008.
