Hundreds of schoolchildren gathered at the Gandhi Memorial in New Delhi in a peace gathering, on Monday, April 10, to condemn the deadly chemical weapons attacks by Syria.

The children held signs saying “I refuse to accept violence on children” and “Peace for All.”

Nobel Peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi led the children a moment of silence on behalf of the civilian victims of the April 4 attack.

“We are gathered here to strongly condemn what has recently happened in Syria. Almost 30 children were killed, along with 80 people,” Satyarthi told the crowd.

“This is not the first time that it is happening, this kind of genocide and killing of children is happening with the innocent children.”

“This is the time to globalize human compassion, and let us begin with our children,” said Satyarthi.

“Let us try to grab that compassion inside each one of us, and globalize it, activize it for the betterment of our children,” he said.

Satyarthi won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for promoting child rights on the Indian subcontinent.
