“Searching” is a new psychological thriller that is scheduled to air on Aug. 3. It is about a widowed father, David Kim (John Cho), looking for his missing daughter, Margot Kim.
After Kim calls the police, a local detective Vick (Debra Messing) is assigned to assist him. However, 37 hours later, they still have no leads.
The desperate father breaks into his daughter’s laptop looking for clues, hoping to find her before she disappears forever.
This PG-13 hyper-modern thriller is shot on a mock computer screen. Director Aneesh Chaganty finds a new way to tell this family story while showing how people interact online, sometimes hiding things from their family members.
Some viewers think this movie as suspenseful and attention holding. A viewer even comments on IMDB.com saying that he might watch this film several times to pick up the overlooked details. Out of 358 ratings, this film got a 6.8 out of 10 total points.
On RottenTomatoes.com, this film scores 95 percent, or a 7.6/10 among 19 viewers. Hollywood reporter Todd McCarthy states, “what Chaganty and his team have pulled off here is something both novel and accomplished.”
