Seattle City Council Propose Letting Poor Thieves Go Free

SEATTLE, Washington—Seattle’s city council is thinking about changing its criminal code: if a petty criminal suffers from poverty or mental illness, he would not be held liable for theft, trespass, or assault.

We asked Seattle residents what they think about that proposal.

If enacted, Seattle would be the first city nationwide to have such a rule. According to one Seattle resident, even small offenses should be held accountable to keep the city stable.
