A security breach in several systems has disrupted operations at a major Data storage device maker. According to the company, some system data was compromised in the breach.

Western Digital Corp reported the incident on April 3. The company says it is investigating the matter, which resulted in an unauthorized third-party obtaining information from some of its systems, first identified on March 26, as reported by Business Insider.

The nature and broader scope of the compromised data are currently still unknown.

The company has initiated full-scale measures to secure its systems, temporarily pausing its services and taking systems offline pending investigation.

Further discontinuation of certain service parts is expected as the company is working to restore operations.

Western Digital Corp has stated that it is working with law enforcement regarding the incident after implementing its investigation involving outside security agencies and forensic experts.
According to its website, the company specializes in software products and is a leading force in producing and developing storage devices and technology.

Headquartered in San Jose, California, the company announced in late January that it had received a substantial investment totaling nearly $1 billion from Apollo-Managed Funds.
