Sen. Peters on ‘Catastrophic’ Cyberattacks on US Health Care System

Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) led a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing on cybersecurity challenges to the U.S. health care system on Thursday.

Peters recalled a catastrophic ransom attack in Mobile, Alabama, in 2019. “The attack prevented health care providers from using an equipment to monitor a baby’s condition during delivery. And as a result, the infant tragically passed away,” he said.
