Senators Debate ‘Red Flag’ Gun Laws

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday discussed gun control, including red flag laws. Red flag laws allow police, family members, or medical professionals to ask a court to restrict a person’s access to guns if they think the person is at risk of hurting themselves or others.

The hearing showed the senators’ disagreement on the best way to prevent mass shootings and reduce firearm deaths—and their common search for answers.
