Attorney General Jeff Sessions spoke at the daily White House press corps briefing on Monday, March 27, and made it clear that cities, which did not comply with federal immigration policies, sometimes called “sanctuary cities,” would not be eligible for future Justice Department grants and could have existing grants terminated.

Sessions said cities applying for grants would need to certify compliance with 8 U.S. Code Section 1373, which says no one can withhold immigration status information from the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
