Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he “does not recall any discussion of the campaign in any significant way” with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak during their meetings.

He maintained that stance in an interview with Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson, and said the way the story was reported was “hyped beyond reason” and “unfair.”

Under pressure from Republicans and Democrats, Sessions today said he’ll step away from being the lead on investigations into Russian meddling into the presidential campaign. Some Democrats are calling for Sessions to not only to recuse himself but to resign.
