Shanghai Disneyland Closes Amid Virus Surge

In the first year after its 2016 opening, Shanghai Disneyland welcomed more than 11 million visitors. By tapping into China’s mushrooming middle class, the park became an instant smash hit.

On March 20, 2022, the Shanghai Disney Resort said it would temporarily close until further notice.

This comes as the financial hub reported a record daily surge in virus infections on March 21, 2022.
