Dozens of sharks were spotted off the coast of North Stradbroke Island, in Brisbane Australia.

Drone footage captured this incredible sight of sharks swimming in shallow waters toward giant baitballs along the island’s northern tip.

Stradbroke resident Barry Miall captured this amazing sight about 200 meters from nearby Adder Rock.
He said the sharks have frequented the waters below the rocky outcrops of North Gorge Walk at Point Lookout, for the past 12 years he has lived on the island.

“I think it’s an annual event when the baitfish come in close and when the water starts to get cold,” Mr. Miall told 9News.

‘I know that from previous years when the baitfish come close to shore that the tuna … are not far behind and then the sharks,’ Mr. Miall told Daily Mail Australia.

It’s “a great time to be a shark out in the ocean,” Tacha Mulligan from Sea World stated.

“You’ve got the baitballs… and then you’ve got those larger items like humpback whale calves (that sharks) are also searching for.”

There have been similar events reported along the northern New South Wales and southern Queensland state coasts in recent days forcing the closures of several beaches, local media reported.

There has been only one reported fatal shark attack, despite the frequency of large shark groups that appear in the area.
