Shen Yun’s performance has attracted people from all over the world. Its uplifting display of traditional Chinese culture has moved the audience in Purchase.

“It was phenomenal, from beginning to end, the music, the dancing, the colors, the costumes,” said Lucas Anne-Lise. ” I brought my binoculars so I could see faces, they are such magical performers. We’ll come back.”

Anne-Lise is the Global Innovation R&D Manager at Welch’s, a well-known food industry company in the United States.

She felt fortunate to see Shen Yun in the United States but found it sad to know that Shen Yun is not able to perform in China.

“It’s a tragedy. I think it’s terrible, but hopefully, the whole world will embrace it. And perhaps the Chinese government someday will realize, that it’s actually a good advertisement for the country,” she said. “I was thinking that as I was watching. If the whole world could see that this is really China, then people would have a very positive image of China.”

Paul Markatos is the Managing Director at the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, he said was impressed by the educational aspect of the performance.

“I like that the story carries with the culture, and it’s explaining what’s going on,” Markatos said. “Very interesting I didn’t know most of this history of your country.

For thousands of years, classical Chinese dance was used to express traditional values.

Markatos said that he felt powerful energy that came from the inner spirit of the dancers.

“It’s a lot of energy. When you look at the dancer’s faces, they’re very expressive,” he said. “It does feel as if it’s coming from within to the outside.”

“It’s an interesting balance of spirit and physical movement. The inner soul with the external demonstration of the heart or the spirit,” he added. “I find myself at ease watching it, it makes me feel good.”
