Houston Audience: ‘Uplifting and Joyful’

Shen Yun Performing Arts brought an all-new performance to the Texas audience. Audience members say the performance was sensational, and made them appreciate the beauty of traditional Chinese culture.

Christie Farris, a licensed professional counselor supervisor, said the performance brightened her up.

“Just uplifting, I like anything that is expressive with music and dance. So it just really was uplifting and joyful to me.”

The audience appreciated learning about traditional Chinese culture.

“Whenever I think of China I think of the [Chinese Communist Party] CCP, and today I learned that China is not the CCP. The CCP was imposed on China. They have such a beautiful ancient culture and I’m so glad Shen Yun is trying to revive and popularize that culture,” said Emad Asham, a surgeon.

“It draws a lot of emotion from the stories of China and how it is now. And you know, the show is not able to be performed over there. You know, it’s just lot of difference from America,” said Amity McCarthy, the vice president of leasing and operations at Third Generation Development.

Shen Yun’s effort to bring traditional values was greatly appreciated by the theatergoers.

“I feel the world can be a better place with faith, forbearance, and truthfulness. We lack those terribly, and that’s why the world [has] became such a bad place. We don’t need to talk about negative things today. But I feel these three things are timely, needed in this world we live in,” said Mr. Asham.

Shen Yun performances are all-new every year. Chris Rymer, a lieutenant in Baytown, Texas, had seen a previous show and wanted his daughter to get the same wonderful feeling he did.

“Love it, absolutely love it. I’ve seen it before, this is her first time coming. So I wanted to make sure she got the same experience I did. But it’s absolutely amazing, amazing.”

“Absolutely beautiful, and there is a lot I’m learning just by being here. And I’ve already teared up a couple times. It’s very emotional, just a beautiful, beautiful performance,” said Ms. McCarthy.
