“What touched me the most was how it really emotionally traced the history of China through their philosophy. I think it’s truly magnificent and they really infuse their culture. And I think it’s a respect for Chinese tradition that has existed for millennia. And as someone with a sensitivity to and a philosophical approach to Taoism, I find it very, very well represented. It’s truly magnificent,” said Roger Blumenthal, the co-founder and chairman of Collège Romand de PNL.
Mr. Blumenthal said, “I would say there’s the notion of what Heaven and Earth give you, the strength of humankind, and this humanity they possess, this goodness. Ultimately, it’s a spiritual approach, a spirituality, not necessarily in the religious sense, but a much broader spirituality that focuses on the harmony between the universe, humanity, and all living things. And I think it’s good to preserve this tradition. And it’s true that China has a millennia-old tradition of this sensitivity.”
Each performance highlights themes of spirituality and faith, values found at the heart of traditional Chinese culture.
“I think that we’re indeed at a turning point in life today, where everything is moving too fast, where everything is accelerating. And I think we’re not focused enough on spirituality, on the meaning of life, on harmony, on subtle concepts. We’re very much into materialism, and I think we need to return to a more spiritual perspective,” Mr. Blumenthal said.
