“It was exciting, a riot of colors and lightness. Fantastic dancers and spectacular music. Truly beautiful, really beautiful,” said Nicoletta Lattuada, a business owner.
“The dance troupe is exceptional. We are dance experts because both my daughter and I have danced a lot in our lives. We know what sacrifice is. The teamwork and the [movements of all] the dancers amaze us. Their lightness and inner strength are wonderful,” said Clarissa Tattilo, a graphic designer. “My daughter said to me, ‘Mom, they all jump together, and when they land, you don’t even hear a sound. They’re so light.’ That’s true. The elevation they achieve, going from complete stillness into the air, is incredible.”
“I was expecting the choral aspect, the choreography, the colors, the costumes and the synchronicity, the figures built by the dancers, very spectacular, very scenic,” said Alfredo Tradati, a journalist. “I perceived the message, certainly. I had the opportunity to go to China three times for work and so yes, obviously I know little about Confucian culture, the one that existed before and here there are obviously frames, sketches that show it. So it’s very interesting to delve deeper.”
“The salvation of man comes from the Divine. Imagining what could be the end of times, I find it something that is common to all religions. That is, in man there is this innate thought toward the Divine that brings peace and salvation, and it is common to all religions, so it must necessarily be that way,” said Enzo Pistrito, an entrepreneur.
“The fact that human beings are made not only of the material part, but also need the spiritual part, and that lately, especially in this last period, this part has been forgotten, whereas instead human beings are also made to be happy human beings. They are also made of the spiritual part. Even the declaration of the fact that the Chinese spiritual part ... had been suppressed by the communist regime, indicates that,” said Stefania Carlesso, a nurse.
Mr. Pistrito added: “I must say it also makes you reflect a lot on the fact that this show is not able to be seen in China, so we are surely witnessing a representation of Chinese tradition that the Chinese people have no possibility of seeing. This is something that makes you think, which we hadn’t considered before coming here.”
Renato Baracchetti, a retired company director, said: “I think it’s absurd that in 2026 it’s still impossible to stage a performance like this in China. For me, many barriers have already fallen, except in a few places like North Korea. China appears open to us Westerners, but in reality it isn’t. I believe the Chinese people would like to see a China that is more open, without taboos or secrecy. They are wonderful people.”
“My wish is that these performances can one day be presented again in China,” said Mara Russo, an accountant.
Some audience members said they hoped to share the experience with family and friends.
“I’ll wait for them next year. They said that their performance changes every year, so I can’t wait to come back and see them and hear their stories,” said Fabrizio Rebuzzi, a broadcasting manager.
