It’s tough for kids who are growing up in extreme poverty. It’s dirty and they often don’t have enough sanitation, clean water, or clothing to protect them from the elements. Often, as kids outgrow their shoes, they become too small and uncomfortable for their feet, but they continue to wear them because there are no other options. That’s when this guy came up with the idea for a shoe that could adjust and expand, cooperating with the child’s growth.

The man in this video (not named) is a part of an organization called “Because International.” They believe in what they call ‘practical compassion.’ Their goal is to progress, through their experience in assisting others, from questions to ideas to a practical reality. That is exactly what they’ve done here. Because International have now created “the shoe that grows,” a shoe that can adjust five sizes and last at least five years. The shoe can adjust and expand as the child grows, allowing them to always wear shoes that fit. They really feel like they’ve created something special and played a small part in allowing kids to grow up healthy and happy. Simple gestures turn into simple genius when practical compassion is the guiding force.
