One woman was killed and four others were injured on May 3 in a shooting at a medical facility in Atlanta, police said.

The shooting took place around noon inside a waiting room at Northside Hospital on West Peachtree Street Northwest, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

The four injured women were rushed to Grady Hospital, authorities said. All of the victims transported to the hospital are adults and three of the four are in critical condition, Dr. Robert Jansen, chief medical officer at Grady Health Systems, told reporters outside the hospital.

A 39-year-old woman died at the scene, while the injured women ranged in age between 25 and 71, police said; their names haven’t been made public.

The suspect was identified as 24-year-old Deion Patterson. He carjacked a vehicle after leaving the hospital and fled the area, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said.

Images of the alleged shooter inside the building showed a dark-skinned male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

The Cobb County Police Department confirmed later on Wednesday that Patterson had been arrested after several hours of search, which involved multiple agencies.

The firearm used in the shooting hasn’t been recovered.
