A shooting that took place at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport has left multiple people dead and many more injured. The shooting took place on Friday a little before 1PM. Five people are confirmed dead and eight people have been injured and transferred to an area hospital, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. One subject is in custody.
NBC News reports that the shooter is identified 26 year old Esteban Santiago from New Jersey.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office received a call about the shooting at 12:55PM. The shooting occurred at the baggage claim area at Terminal 2. The airport has suspended all services.

Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief told CNN that the shooter is in custody and was a “lone shooter” and there’s “no evidence at this time that he was acting with anyone else.”
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer was at the scene.
