Traditionally a 50th anniversary gift is something gold, but these sisters weren’t going to gift their parents gold jewelry or gold home decor. They had something else in mind, something else that was a little more valuable than precious metal.
Heather Gates and her sister Michelle Wolter planned the surprise for a long time. They wanted to make sure their special gift was exactly as they remembered it some several decades earlier.
A coworker informed Wolter that her family’s 1965 Mustang was spotted in a broker’s warehouse, and she knew she had to get it back. Not only because it would serve as a reminder of the good old days, but because in a way it was a part of their family that had gone missing.
The sisters say they remembered the car that their parents drove off in on their wedding day as “always there” during the 30 years her parents owned it. And according to Gates, the day their father sold the car was a tough one for him. So, it only made sense to restore the car and surprise their parents with it on their 50th wedding anniversary.
The two opened a box wrapped in gold paper and revealed a mini Mustang with a key inside.
Unbeknownst to mom and dad, that wasn’t the real big surprise.
The same exact car they loved dearly for so many years was sitting outside waiting for them.
Based on their parents’ reaction, these two sisters delivered the best possible 50th wedding anniversary gift!
