Slovenian chef at remote restaurant named world’s best female chef

At a remote hilltop restaurant in Slovenia the world’s best female chef is fixing her next unique menu item.

Ana Ros won the title The World’s Best Female Chef 2017 from “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.” She had no traditional culinary schooling. She started cooking by accident after she got married.

Food critic Bostjan Napotnik shared why people are looking for chefs just like Ana.

“Because the whole culinary world has started to search for small stories, for the stories that are not part of a classical, big, expensive or known gastronomies.”

Ros and her husband Valter Kramar fell into this career by chance. They inherited his family’s restaurant 15 years ago. She uses homegrown food in unique cultural cuisine.

A six course meal at Hisa Franko goes for $95 and an 11 course meal costs $135.
