Social Media Professor Warns of TikTok’s Ability to ‘Manipulate Users’

Andrew Selepak, a social media professor at the University of Florida, tells NTD about why Congress is advancing a bill that would remove the Chinese Communist Party’s influence from TikTok, or ban it from app stores. During a House Committee vote, TikTok users received notifications on their devices to complain to their representatives about the issue. Congressional phone lines were backed up, as about 170 million people in the United States use TikTok.
