The Ministry of Justice is set to cancel a 12 million pound ($16 million) contract to install solar panels on prisons and courts. The move comes after it was revealed some parts of the panels were made by a company that uses slave labour in China. Research has found that Xinjiang produces around 45 percent of the world’s polysilicon, a key component of solar panels.
