Sotheby’s Hong Kong held an auction called Curiosities III that brought in $8 million. The auction consisted of natural and man-made items from various eras.

Nicholas Chow, Sotheby’s Asia deputy chairman, spoke about how the auction is introducing new things to Asia.

“These are really a microcosm of the world. So basically with a variety of fields juxtaposed from Africa, we had Western antiquities, we had Chinese monochrome ceramics, Egyptian material. We had a lot of natural history. We had a dinosaur skull, walrus skull. It’s really a platform to introduce new fields of collecting to our audience here in Asia.”
