“Sound of Music” actress Heather Menzies-Urich died on Christmas Eve at the age of 68 while surrounded by family, according to a report.
Her son, Ryan, told TMZ: “She was an actress, a ballerina and loved living her life to the fullest. She was not in any pain but, nearly 4 weeks after her diagnosis of terminal brain cancer, she had enough and took her last breath on this earth at 7:22 PM.”

Menzies-Urich appeared as Louisa von Trapp in the “Sound of Music” when she was 15 years old. The movie went on to win five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
She was the widow of longtime actor Robert Urich.
Her other movie credits included “Hawaii,” “The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes,” “Piranha,” and “Endangered Species.” Her television roles included “Dragnet,” “Bonanza,” “Marcus Welby M.D.,” “The Bob Newhart Show,” and she also starred as Jessica 6 in the short-lived TV series “Logan’s Run.”
She’s survived by her three children, her grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
