Sources say President Trump dumping Paris climate accord

Reports said President Donald Trump will not to support the Paris climate accord.

The accord, which would start to take effect in 2020, set greenhouse gas emissions goals for industrialized nations.

The Paris agreement was adopted in 2015 by 195 nations. One hundred and forty-seven have ratified it.

Apparently the United States will not join that number.

The United States is the world’s second largest greenhouse-gas emitter, second only to China.

Trump had called climate change a hoax.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres disagrees.

“The effects of climate change are already being felt around the world and they are dangerous and they are accelerating,” Guterres said.

Guterres plans a 2019 summit to re-address the issue.
