South African home of award-winning cameraman obliterated by fires

Cameraman Chris Everson returned to find his home burned almost completely to the ground.

He was in London when fires were swept through on strong storm winds in Knysna, South Africa.

A friend managed to save his dogs, but almost $1 million worth of collectibles were burned to ashes, including Emmy awards for his camerawork. Everson is a freelance cameraman for “60 Minutes.”

Ten thousand residents had to be evacuated. The damage from the storm and fire killed eight people.
